There are many types of eating disorders. We are most familiar with the three main disorders anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. However, there are lots of small disorder affecting millions of people as Prader-Willi syndrome and night eating syndrome. This is a short list of the major and minor symptoms of eating disorders and treatment.
anorexia
is potentially dangerous and life-threatening disease characterized by a person's fear of gaining weight, then resort to self-starvation and excessive weight loss. Anorexia nervosa typically appears during adolescence in girls and may be carried into adulthood. Some boys and men suffer from anorexia, but it is more common in women
.
There are four primary symptoms, according to the National Eating Disorder Association.
* intense fear of "fat" even if they are underweight.
* Resistance to maintaining a healthy weight, or average.
* Loss of menstrual periods in girls and women.
* Poor or distorted body image resulting in denial of serious weight loss or low body weight.
When people are dying of hunger, they not only affect their weight, but their overall nutritional well-being. several potential health risks for people with anorexia nervosa are:
* dry hair and skin
* Severe dehydration, which resulted in kidney failure,
* slow heartbeat and low blood pressure
* dizziness, fatigue and weakness
* Osteoporosis
Treatment requires addressing the basic counseling and psychological factors that contribute to disease. Often the person will be treated psychologically, medically and nutritionally. Family and a strong support group encouraging. Each person is different and treatment varies depending on the severity of the disease.
Bigorexia (muscle Dysmorphia)
is usually seen in men, especially bodybuilders and weight lifters, bigorexia is a disorder of body image, where a person feels their body is too small. Therefore, they spend excessive hours in the gym working out. Sometimes seen as "reverse anorexia" However, no matter how big or muscular person becomes they still feel their bodies are too small.
there are no real symptoms except the person bigorexia excessive attention to body image. Bigorexia rarely diagnosed because it is socially acceptable for men to be muscular. Bigorexia May not be as life threatening as anorexia, but there is no danger. Many people with the disease are prone to steroid abuse, in extreme cases, the disorder can affect the person's work and personal life

Binge Eating Disorder (Compulsive Overeating)
people with binge eating disorder will compulsively overeat without toss-up, abusing laxatives or excessive exercise to compensate for large amounts of food you just consumed.
According to the National Eating Disorder Association of any signs or symptoms of binge eating disorder can be:
* eat large amounts of food in a short period of time
* Feeling out of control over eating behavior
* Feeling ashamed of their behavior
* sometimes eaten in secret
Health problems associated with binge eating disorder are similar to those such as associated with obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and type 2 diabetes Mental health problems such as depression and anxiety often accompany health problems.
Treatment usually involves psychological counseling to help determine the causes for this disease. strong support system of family and friends is encouraged. It is assumed that obese individuals with binge eating disorder try to conquer their demons with psychological, medical and group assistance before trying to lose weight.
Bulimia
Bulimia is one of the three main eating disorders. About 80 percent of bulimia patients are female. It is characterized by forcing people to "cleanse " the food you just ate the throwing-up, abusing laxatives or exercising excessively.
There are two types of bulimia, cleaning nonpurging. Nonpurgers will usually compensate for their overeating with excessive exercise or fasting.
The National Eating Disorder Association says three main symptoms of bulimia nervosa, such as:
* Regular intake of large quantities of food with a sense of loss of control eating behaviors.
* Regular use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors such as vomiting, laxative abuse or compulsive exercise.
* Extreme concern about body weight and shape.
There are many health problems associated with bulimia. These are usually associated with using a person chooses to "purify" their food. This may include:
* inflammation or rupture of the esophagus from frequent vomiting
* Tooth decay and damage from stomach acid.
* electrolyte imbalance
* Chronic intestinal problems due to abuse laxatives.
Depending on the weight, bulimia can be treated with great psychological and medical counseling. It is often associated with bulimia deeper emotional and psychological dilemmas.
Night Eating Syndrome (NES)
Night Eating Syndrome is a relatively new disorder. people with night eating syndrome will often eat large amounts of food after the last meal of the day. Usually just before bedtime and during the middle of the night. They in turn will skip breakfast, and do not start eating until the middle of the day. Those with night eating syndrome will not only enjoy the occasional midnight snack, they will usually consume high-calorie, low nutritious food often at night.
As a result, the night eating syndrome effects people overall emotional well-being starts depression, insomnia and anxiety. Approx. 10 percent of all clinically obese people are believed to have NES.
The NES is the new disorder is still being studied no specific treatment options available. Some early reports show the drug Zoloft can be effective in treating the disorder.
The treatment begins with clinical interviews and a few nights in a sleep study clinics. Some medications are available, but sleeping pills are discouraged.
night Sleep-Related Eating Disorder (NS-RED)
Sleep eating disorder is eating and sleeping disorder. Those who have a sleep eating disorder eat while sleeping will wake up. These people will be completely unaware of their behavior, and have no memories. They typically consume high-fat and high sugar foods.
NS-red often occurs in people who are usually food during the day. About 10 to 15 percent of people with common eating disorders affect. Their body will catch up more at night, when people will be the weaker for the individual's lack of nutrition or fasting during the day. Sometimes stress and anxiety can trigger NS-RED. people will often wake up in front of the refrigerator or the food on your hands and face.
Orthorexia nervosa
Orthorexia nervosa is not a nationally recognized eating disorders. However, it is increasingly recognized. Orthorexia focuses on finding the perfect or pure diet. a person becomes obsessed with healthy eating nutritiously and refuse to feel guilty about eating junk food. They often eliminate all sugars and fats from your diet and enjoy food more.
Often, people with orthorexia nervosa isolate themselves because they are so worried about their next healthy meal they refused to go out to eat with friends and family and insist on preparing their meals. They sometimes refuse drug treatments to insist on "all natural" remedies for certain diseases.
orthorexia Although becoming more popular is not considered a clinical disorder and not diagnosed or treated. Often this can be associated with other medical disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder and is treated that way.

Pica usually characterized as the persistent eating nonnutritive substances such as dirt, hair, plastic, paint and much more.
This eating disorder is most commonly seen in children. It is considered inappropriate in children older than two with an average development of intelligence. It is also the most common eating disorder among persons with disabilities. It is sometimes seen in pregnant women craving dirt or soap to compensate for vitamin deficiencies.
Causes of disease can include:
* Nutritional deficiencies
* cultural and family factors
* Stress
* socioeconomic status
* Brain Damage
* Pregnancy
Health problems occur when a person swallows an infectious or hazardous material. Rocks can become stuck in the digestive track and create a backup hose prison. Sharp objects may scratch or cut the esophagus, stomach or digestive tract, creating an internal infection. There is also a high risk of lead poisoning resulting from eating paint.

There is very little medical treatment available, however, some assume those with the disease suffer from reduced levels of dopamine and can be treated with medication dopamine

Prader-Willi syndrome
This is a genetic disorder where a person never feels full. The disease is also accompanied by low muscle tone, short stature, behavioral problems, cognitive disabilities and incomplete sexual development.
Prader-Willi syndrome is triggered by a defect in the hypothalamus, which usually registers feelings of hunger. absence makes the person never feel full, no matter how much they eat. Ironically, people with Prader-Willi syndrome should eat less than those of the same age and height, because their bodies have less muscle and tend to burn fewer calories.
Thus, those with Prader-Willi syndrome are often obese and get the many health risks associated with obesity such as heart disease, respiratory problems and diabetes. There is no cure for Prader-Willi syndrome. Treatment usually requires a very low calorie diets and little access to food. Families will usually have to put locks on refrigerators and cabinet doors. Often, those diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome will also have obsessive-compulsive behavior.
Rumination disorder
People with the disorder, rumination will voluntarily or forcibly, and re-regurgitate partially digested food to chew. It can be re-swallowed or expelled.
According emedicine.com, rumination is a rare disease, information and many theories have been derived through the male and one case study. Theories include psychosocial factors, cultural, economic, organic, and psychodynamic. It is more prevalent in infants and children, and usually sends spontaneously.
Symptoms may include:
* Weight Loss
* halitosis
* bad
* Raw and chapped lips
Health issues and concerns related to rumination disorder are:
* Tooth decay and erosion
* esophagus damage
* Gastric disorders
* Aspiration
* Asphyxia
* Pneumonia
* halitosis
treatments usually include psychological and medical counseling. In some extreme cases surgery, gastroesophageal fundoplication, the procedure is usually reserved for people with acid reflux disease, can be used.
Many of these eating disorders are rare and can vary in many degrees. Always ask a doctor before self-treatment or diagnosis.
