After I Buy Swiss+Tech ST20023 Gift Box Set of Key Ring Multi-Function Tools, Set of 3First off, look at the dimensions and weight and know that is the box with the tools in it. So yeah, they're pretty small- small enough to fit easily in a pocket on a keychain. The largest of the tools is the small blue multitool, and it's small enough I can hide it in my hand. If your hands are huge, these might be very awkward to use.
That said, they're a handy set of tools two of which (the key and keychain multitool) are attachable to a keychain. Between any two of them you have most things you might need for odd tasks like turning screws, bolts, handling wires, etc. There's a few things missing, such as scissors and a corkscrew, but you can get those (and a good blade- more on that late) in a Victorinox for $10.
The design of the tools is solid; they're essentially scaled down versions of larger multitools. The least useful of them is the key, but I like how it looks like a normal key and fits together. However, I'm also pretty sure it won't get through TSA checks due to the blade, so it's not on my chain. The keychain multitool is fine for that and more useful anyway since it has pliers and a phillips screwdriver. Obviously, these tools aren't going to be good for real heavy or precision work (they're too small for heavy tasks, not ergonomic enough for very fine tasks) but for general fixing here and there they're useful, and you can have them around at all times due to their size and weight. Need to tighten some bolts or pull some wires out- no problem for this set.
The blue mini multitool is the only one with a really usable blade, and also has a longnosed pliers that are spring loaded. While the key also has a straight and serrated blade, it's simply too hard to hold to use for anything but very light duty cutting, such as trimming fishing line. It's also not very sharp, which unfortunately is also the case with the blue multitool's blade. Not only is it not particularly sharp, but it doesn't seem very robust either- I found it got dull very quickly to the point where it could hardly cut anything. Let's just say you shouldn't toss out your swiss army knife just yet. I also found that the micro screwdriver on the key is too thick to fit most screws of that width, making it practically useless. I think this is due to the fact that it's exposed, so it would be too sharp to keep in a pocket if it was otherwise.
Despite these few limitations, this is a very nice set for the price and handy to have around in the car or on your person. Aside from the blue multitool, they're comparable in size and weight to a small keychain swiss army knife and have some useful functions that you typically won't find except on the larger and more expensive knives. It's a good compromise for someone who doesn't want to carry around (or doesn't want to pay for) a $50+ full size Leatherman or Vic, yet wants most of the basic functionality. Just keep in mind they are small and not as easy to use, especially if you have large hands.
